Earlier today, Mon., Aug. 21, WNPL received a bomb threat via email. Library staff swiftly evacuated the building and called 911 per our emergency procedures. The Gurnee Police Department and a local K-9 unit promptly responded. After an extensive search, library staff were given the all-clear to return to the building.
WNPL was one of several Chicagoland-based organizations that received such threats. WNPL will remain closed for the remainder of the day and is expected to reopen per our regular business hours, at 9 a.m. on Tues., Aug. 22.
WNPL would like to express our gratitude to the Gurnee Police Department and Allied/MSA K-9 Unit for their prompt response to this incident.
