An employee of Warren-Newport Public Library is under quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19. Upon notification, library administration initiated contact tracing protocols and instructed the staff member to immediately self-quarantine.
Close contact (defined as being within six feet with or without the use of a face covering, for fifteen minutes or longer, within a 48-hour period) with members of the public was not discovered. WNPL has instituted increased cleaning of all high-traffic areas, thorough cleaning of the building each evening, and separate deep cleanings of the areas where the employee works.
WNPL requires that face masks are worn properly by staff and all visitors, as well as social distancing of six feet or more and limiting time within the library building. Other safety protocols, including capacity limits, sneeze guards at all service desks, accessible hand sanitizer, regular surface cleaning, and quarantining of returned books and other library materials have also been implemented.
